Salome tells the story of a young woman whose desire and defiance challenge the moral authority around her. After performing the Dance of the Seven Veils for King Herod, Salome demands the head of John the Baptist, revealing themes of power, obsession, and self-destruction.
My design reimagines the Dance of the Seven Veils as a physical and emotional journey rather than a seductive act. During the dance, Salome gradually removes layers of ornament and costume, each representing restriction and identity. By the end, she is conceptually “naked”—stripped to her most vulnerable self—turning the dance into a ritual of exposure and transformation.
