Ball-Jointed Doll Project: Freedom

Freedom is an original work developed from a script I wrote during the COVID period. The story explores a society in which one ethnic group oppresses another colonial population, creating a cycle of control and submission. As some people remain imprisoned for too long, they gradually lose their desire for freedom altogether. The project reflects on how freedom can become distorted, and how what we believe we are pursuing is not always true freedom.

The visual realization of this project was created through ball-jointed dolls, sculpted by hand using ultra-light clay. I used this medium to embody the characters and their emotional states in physical form. The final images were photographed by a professional collectible figure photographer, allowing the sculptural details and atmosphere of the work to be fully captured.
