The West Wing is adapted from Romance of the Western Chamber, telling the love story of Zhang Sheng and Cui Yingying, two young people who challenge social conventions and family expectations in pursuit of true love. The musical explores desire, restraint, and emotional courage through a contemporary theatrical lens.
The production reimagines this classical story with modern musical theatre language, blending traditional Chinese aesthetics with multimedia staging and expressive design. Through stylized visuals, movement, and music, the creative team aims to create a poetic stage world that bridges past and present while highlighting the characters’ inner emotions.
